The Data.

Here is a post pertaining to the data – how we recorded it, how the spreadsheets were made, how the graphs were created, et cetera.  Questions or comments about a specific caliber/ammo should be posted on those entries.

  1. A fellow on the Utah CC forum came up with a GreaseMonkey script add-on for anyone who uses Firefox which will automatically calculate and show muzzle energy for our results. You can find out more about it here.

  2. Oh, I keep forgetting to add this – for anyone who doesn’t know, the simple formula for calculating the muzzle energy yourself is:

    Weight x Velocity x Velocity / 450400 = Energy

    That’s:

    Weight (bullet weight in grams)
times Velocity (speed of bullet in feet per second)
times Velocity (speed of bullet in feet per second)
    divided by 450400
equals Muzzle Energy (in foot-pounds of force)
